I have acquired a lot of multitrack recording gear over the years, first with 2, 4 and 8 track tape recorders before buying my first Pro Tools rig in 2000. After a few upgrades, I have developed a productive bare bones digital recording studio that is affordable and yet large enough to accomadate a wide variety of music projects. Currently, my Pro Tools rig has 15 inputs for tracking and 32 tracks for mixing in the box.
